Women & Girls Exploring Earth Sciences

The Rosenstiel School proudly hosts the Women & Girls Exploring Earth Sciences event annually to boost girls' confidence in their STEM abilities and teach them how to think like a scientist.

Our vision is to create an environment where girls can witness successful women in STEM and envision themselves in similar roles. Each activity is designed to foster the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We hope that this event inspires and empowers the girls, leaving them with a newfound enthusiasm to pursue their dreams.

This event was founded by Dr. Rana Fine, Professor Emeritus of Ocean Sciences, as “Women and Girls in Science” for girls in the Miami-Dade County Public School District. Since 2023, we are proud to collaborate with the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
